When I went in there, there was one thing that I noticed:

The size! It's huge! It felt so roomy in there. I really enjoyed that. The people were nice too - not to say that people aren't nice where I work.

But as time progressed, I really kind of felt myself - dare I say it - homesick for the store I worked at. Things weren't bad, just too different! That, and the fact that you have to walk approximately 1/4 of a mile to the dumpster to take out the garbage.

The thing that was the most different was the back of the store, where we clean dishes, stock things, etc. It was way too small for me. In the store I'm at, its a lot bigger...this one? I thought it'd be nice if it were expanded.

But besides that, I had a nice time. And hey, Thanksgiving is tomorrow! You kids have a nice day.

Matt

Today I'm feeling:

I'm really not sure what to write about tonight.

I was thinking about doing something about Margaret Cho, a radical left-wing comedian who refers to everyone who's opinion differs from hers as being "idiots" and "religious fanatics."

I was also thinking about just writing about stuff.

So, between writing about this...

...and some things that are going on with me, I think I prefer the latter. What to write about, then...

I've recently discovered Switchfoot -a fantastic band out of San Diego. I had heard about them before, but never cared to listen to them. One evening I decided to download their song, "Meant to Live" and I fell in love with it. I like this band so much, that I'm not going to download everything and burn it...I'll buy it instead.

One phrase that sums up the last few weeks is, "Math sucks, English and Pop Culture are good." I feel this is the hardest math class I've taken yet, and I also feel that I've reached my ne plus ultra in the subject of mathematics already (with another class to go.) I'm behind a few chapters, yet my strategy is to qualify for the extension and just go all out during those weeks. I feel I'm doing good in both other subjects.

Hmm what else...SATs? I have to take my SAT in early January. I'm really not too thrilled to take the SAT test, yet I guess I'll have to if I want to have a chance in getting into a four-year college. Hopefully the Lord brings knowledge to my head when I need it....it would really help.

Work. Work is OK. Not good, nor bad. Just OK. Tomorrow I work at another store (same company...different store within the company) about a 1/2 hour or so from where I work now, so that should be fun. I'm really waiting for my paycheck later this week...but I feel thats the only thing thats keeping me at my job. I have no particular love for it - really, I could go without it. I think I should keep doing this through the winter. Once Spring starts to rear its beautiful head, I will then decide if I want to move on to another workplace. But until then, I'll wait it out.

Colleges too. I think I know what college I want to go to. Central Washington University is looking pretty nice, and I think I want to major in political science. I seemed to do well on that subject.

Anyways, Switchfoot is going to be on Leno soon...if you are up when he comes on, be sure to check them out. Awesome band.

Peace out (and have an awesome Thanksgiving!)

Matt

How I'm feeling: Somewhat indifferent

I am such a blogging whore. Why?

I just started a photo blog. Problem is, I really don't have a means of obtaining photographs...yet. Isn't it cool? A Bond camera. At first I was deciding whether or not I should ascertain the forementioned device, yet the 20 dollar rebate killed me. Rain or shine, next paycheck...I'm buying one. And once I have it, my photo blog will catch a thermal and take off.

Anyways...

-=xxxxxPUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTxxxxx=--

The Society of Redneck Wiggers (SRW) have unanimously agreed that I am "da bomb."

I just feel the need to kind of voice my support for a show on ABC right now. Tonight's episode was about a wife (most episodes involve wives in one way or another) who seemed to grow desperate. She was in such dire need of help, she needed some strong, masculine men to help her out.

...

..

.

I mean, what I like so much about Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is that it really gives people hope when they are in their direst of needs. As an example - tonight's episode was about a widowed mother of two, trying to keep a farm that has been in their family for 100 years. Unfortunatly, she was losing the home - her only source of income was buying bales of hay and reselling it at a higher price, which wasn't giving her as much money she needed to keep the property. Her husband, who provided all the income, died in a car accident three months earlier. So the folks from EM:HE came to her house, tore it down while the family was at an all-paid vacation to DisneyWorld, then built a great looking house on top of it. Not only that, but they built a humongous barn and put 10,000 bales of hay in it. And not only THAT, but they planted alfalfa (hay) on twenty acres, so when they run out of hay, they can just grab it from the acres its planted on. Not only THAT, but they also gave her two vehicles: a truck for haulin things, and a family-sized SUV. Not only THAT, but famous country singer Randy Travis performed a fundraiser for the family, gathering over 60,000 dollars.

What a great group of humanitarians. They have provided this woman with a home, a renewable source of income, transportation, and $60,000 that can be spent on getting her kids to college, emergency money - whatever. I just want to say bravo to the folks at ABC and on EM:HE for doing such an outstanding, inspirational show. What a Christ-like attitude....bravo.

However, one thing I really don't like is ABC's, "Desperate Housewives." Now repeat after me: SEX AND THE CITY RIPOFF. That in itself, isn't necessarily a good thing. They take divorce, affairs, and the steady decline of values in America and wrap it up in a nice little clean box they call "entertainment." Then they market it to death, tell everyone they need to see this show, and make profits from the glorification of divorce, lies, and marital affairs. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this? Is this really the kind of thing we want to be promoting? I know I must sound like a stick in the mud, but think about it for a second. What an empty, shallow way of life. No, I'm not saying we should all bring back dumb shows like the Waltons and the Brady Bunch and try to promote it as the American family, but we also shouldn't drift to the complete opposite side of the spectrum and promote that as the American family either. No wonder the world hates us - all the world sees of America is the garbage we continually puke out. Ugh.

Anyways, right now it is 12:35 AM, I have a research essay rough draft due on tuesday and I work tomorrow 4-8. It has to be like ten pages long too...can I do it? Tune in tuesday.

Until then, goodnight and God bless.

Today, I am: Tired - physically and mentally. I need a vacation.

Take the What High School
Stereotype Are You? quiz.

I do not live in a shell.

My Review of: Napoleon Dynamite

TWO THUMBS UP

Napoleon Dynamite is a fantastic film, which employs great humor, a great storyline, and wraps the movie up in a nice, neat little package at the end. However, one of the things I loved most about this movie is how none of the characters are the super blockbuster stars, like Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, etc.

The premise of the story goes like this: Napoleon Dynamite (yes, this is his real name) is the average nerd in a small Idaho town. He lives at home with his grandmother (who is referred to only as "grandma" in the movie) and his 32 year old nerd brother, Kip, who tells Napoleon once that he's only jealous of him "because I've been chatting with babes on the computer all day." His grandma is the opposite of the stereotypical sweet loving grandma who bakes cookies for her grandchildren - this grandma stays out all night long, has a boyfriend, and goes joyriding on a four-wheeler in the sand dunes, which incidentally gets the plot rolling. During one of her joyriding escapades with her friends, she falls off her four wheeler and breaks a bone, and has to stay in the hospital for a few days. During this time, the annoying Uncle Rico comes to take care of them. Uncle Rico is a man who believes that if his coach had put him on the field of the state high school football finals in 1982, they would've gone to state, and according to Uncle Rico, would've made him a great football star and eventually land him a role in the NFL. Because of his obsession with this, he continually thinks about it and even attempts to travel back in time to tell his coach to put him in the game.

Napoleon also gets a friend at school, a young Mexican immigrant named Pedro, and an unpopular tacky girl named Deb. When Napoleon's friend, Pedro, decides to run for class president, the plot really starts to get rolling and starts their adventure. It's hard to tell you much more besides that without giving away spoilers, so I must shut up and not tell you anymore :)

From embarressing moments with Uncle Rico to being picked on at school by bullies and jocks, Napoleon Dynamite is a hilarious movie with lots of laughs, a good storyline and which is quickly becoming a cult favorite. This movie is a must see.

Well, well well....howdy doody everyone!

I haven't been blogging at all lately....on myspace, or here. I've always had good memories of blogger, so I've decided to make the trek back here and start anew.

Anyways, my life has been somewhat complicated of late...between school, work, and worrying about college/SAT's/etc, I really haven't been having the greatest time. I absolutely cannot wait until Christmas vacation. A great time to unwind.

And yes, I did get a job....Papa Murphys Pizza. It's take-and-bake...you basically call in an order, you pick it up, and bring it home to bake and eat, fresh out of the oven. A lot of people think its a dumb idea (maybe it is?) but at least I'm getting a few bucks. What sucks the most about it is taking till. I hate that cash register...so freaking much. Thats probably because I started it only a few weeks ago...hopefully I'll learn someday.

I registered for classes today, for winter semester...got one 11:00-11:50, another 2:25-4:30(??) and the other one on saturdays, from 8:30-1:00. I dread the saturday class...its hard for me to sit still in a two hour class, let alone a four hour one. Hopefully, I'll get accustomed to it.

I'm getting ready for college. I've decided to pursue a political science major, and I'll be applying to a few colleges soon. I'd like to be accepted to Central Washington University, but time will tell. After college, however, I intend on going to Israel and getting a bachelors in theology. After that...I just don't know. I'll see where life takes me.

I'm pretty pumped tonight though, I'm going to two (2) parties tomorrow. Birthday party for my friend Micah, and another for a friend of mine named Carrissa. So I'll basically be having fun for twelve (12!!) hours, noon to midnight. Hooray!

But, thats all I have to talk about. I should be pruning some stuff on my page, perhaps adding new content...maybe a new theme is in order? That would be sweet.

Oh, before I leave...later tonight I'll be doing a movie review on Napoleon Dynamite. So tune in for that. If anyone is reading.

Aus,

-Matt
